Do you want a video but you’re not sure what to do? Do you think what will work for me? Well worry no more, the objective of this short article is to try to point you in the right direction.

Give you some ideas and help you understand the process of deciding what is best for you.

Why Video

Video is becoming more and more important within marketing. In fact, a recent survey in 2020 found that 92% of marketers said that video is the most important part of their marketing strategy.

Social Media sites such as Linked In, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram promote video content on their site and are actively encouraging users to post more videos.

But you probably already know all of this, and there are plenty of marketers telling you the same thing every day. The big question is what do you do.

What will work for you?

How do we find this out?

The first thing to understand is that there is no one size fit all video solution. Although most agencies would love you to just take an off the shelf product they have already written, the truth is we are all different. So, what works for one company will not always work for another.

There are brand videos, promo videos, case studies, testimonials, explainer videos, how-to videos, talking heads, presentation videos and much more. To establish what will work for you, we need to do some old school marketing. We do this by looking into your soul as a business and asking questions like.

  • Who is our audience?
  • Why do they buy from us?
  • What do they need from us?
  • Where do they hang out?

By asking these questions to yourself and doing some research to find the answers, you will start to get a picture of what it is you need to do.
Then we need to collate the results and ask some more questions.

  • Do you need to attract new business or expand on existing clients or both?
  • Do you need to educate your clients so that they can see why they need you?
  • Do you need to nurture relationships and build trust?
  • Where is the video going? (Website, social media etc.)

Armed with all the information you need to think about what would be the best style of video to get the results you want.

Things to remember

Whatever you decide will work for you it’s important to understand that Video marketing is a continual process it follows a cycle like a wheel that you push along
Just like building any relationship, if you stop pushing the wheel, then it stops gathering. Fresh content is essential to keep the cycle fuelled and avoid the peaks and troughs of business.

Some clients are not yet at the right stage of the buying journey, and if you stop engaging with them, they will easily forget about you. If you nurture them, building a positive relationship with them when the time is right you will be at the top of their list.

In Summary

Understand your audience and what they want. Attract their attention by highlighting their pains, then nurture them with solutions and finally delight them with testimonials and case studies that build trust.
Remember, don’t stop giving them content or you will slip from their mind and hearts.
