Having a coffee β˜•οΈ … erm I mean photographing Costa πŸ“·

We recently shot this Costa coffee shop for the architects that designed the building. Being coffee lovers, this assignment was always going to be one we would enjoy!

As this was a shoot for the architects, we needed to highlight specific details that emphasised the design. Whenever we take a commission for an architectural shoot, it’s essential that we understand the design concept to ensure that we capture the right mood and feel of the building.

From discussions with our client, we knew that these images will be used in case studies on the website and across social media, so we provided a range of image sizes to suit the different uses. Additionally, we can provide other options, such as large print for billboards.

The specific brief asked for clean, light images so we chose a day that allowed us to achieve these shots. This is not always the case; sometimes, the image will require a different environment or a specific time period, such as at night-time, to show off any external lighting or emphasise flexible opening hours.

As is often the case when photographing architecture, a specific, specialist lens was needed. This meant we could capture the correct perspective and straighten any converging verticals. Having the right equipment and expert knowledge helps us to achieve the best results.

Taking the shots is not the end of the process. There is often work to be done in post-production to make the images stand out. After all, they must work for you and show your work at its best if they are going to be used for your marketing.
